Duane Berlin

Duane L. Berlin has served as CASRO's General Counsel for the past six years. He is a member of CASRO's Government and Public Affairs Committee, Pharmaceutical Market Research Task Force and Internet Market Research Task Force as well as the founder of CASRO’s General Counsel and Privacy Officers Forum. Duane is also a principal author of revisions to CASRO's Code of Standards and Ethics for Survey Research, the CASRO Privacy Protection Program and CASRO's Model forms of Contracts and Agreements.

Duane is the Principal and Managing attorney of Lev & Berlin, P.C., a Connecticut based law firm. Having represented survey research companies and trade associations for the past 22 years, Duane is an expert in market research regulation and privacy law, as well as commercial and corporate legal issues affecting the research industry. Duane also currently serves as legal counsel to the American Association for Public Opinion Research as well as more than a dozen leading market research companies. Duane is a contributing editor on legal affairs to QRCA Views, the quarterly magazine of the Qualitative Research Consultants Association.

In 1980, Duane served in the White House as assistant to Timothy Muris, then Deputy Counsel to the Vice Presidential Task Force on Regulatory Relief.

Duane is the founder of the Fairfield County Regional Bar Association Privacy Law Committee and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals as well as the Fairfield County Regional, Connecticut and American Bar Associations.

Martindale Hubbell has awarded Duane its highest peer review rating of “AV”, which indicates “very high to preeminent legal ability” and is a “reflection of his expertise, experience, integrity and overall professional excellence.”

Duane is an NASD Series 7 General Securities Representative and an NASD Arbitrator.

Duane is a graduate of Brandeis University and the University of Miami School of Law and completed additional studies at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
